Where Did It Go?

Has it really been a month since I last posted?  That holiday hangover obviously lasted a lot longer than expected.

I'm coming to the realization that with my current workload, not to mention theatre and, well, life, I probably am not going to be posting that often for the foreseeable future.  One of the things I considered was just hanging it up and not blogging anymore, but I realized that I would miss certain things like Foodie Penpals and the Cake Slice group, not to mention all the terrific feedback I've received over the past eighteen months.

So.  I'm going to try to be better about this.  It may be twice a month, but it certainly won't be every week.  I am also going to post photos of the other things I'm working on, such as the two shows I directed in the past four months.

And on to Foodie Penpals....

I received a box this month from Kyndra at Peace Love and Low Carb.  I'm excited to have my first penpal from the West Coast (just outside Seattle), and also to have lots of low-carb and low-calorie goodies in the first month of the new year.  While I think I managed to escape holiday weight gain, I still have about five pounds to lose from where I was at prior to gaining my thyroid-disease-related weight.

As a total aside, one of my pet peeves: When I was diagnosed in 2009, lots of people said "Oh, you get to go on thyroid medication and the weight will just fall off!  Lucky you!  I want to be diagnosed with it so I can go on Synthroid."  Uh, no it doesn't and no you don't.  End of rant.

But I digress, and back to the box:  it contained a delicious salsa, protein bars, dark chocolate, supplements and other goodies for a health January.  I apologize for the horrendous photo, but I was on my way out the door to catch a plane to St. Louis to see my parents and David snapped it with his iPhone.

That is bacon-flavored dental floss you see sitting on top
of the book.  It gave me a laugh.

Thanks Kyndra for the terrific healthy goodies!  If you are interested in participating in Foodie Penpals, go here.  Back soon with a great bundt cake recipe (definitely not low carb) and Golden Pond photos.

  4. What a fun package! Bacon dental floss? That gave me a laugh.

PS...if Synthroid caused weight loss, there'd be a black market for it :)

  6. I can understand how trying to blog with the rest we have to do is not easy. I have had my times of wanting to shut down my blog too. Rather than burning the bridges, I go slow and blog when I am able to.

Lovely package and I will go for the salsa.

  11. Glad you posted again! I went from posting everyday (in the early years) to every other day, to now every four(ish) days. It can be overwhelming. But, glad you aren't hanging it up for good. I like keeping up with your theater adventures.

  12. Best of luck with the blogging. Sometimes it's really hard to fit it in to already jam-packed lives. I love your posts and hope you keep going as you are my only blogging friend in Alaska and I love the window into your world xx

  18. You've been missed, but I can certainly understand how life gets in the way. I was going to start posting twice a week in 2013 but that last one week. It's hard enough posting once a week, so good luch with working full-time and posting at all! :) Bacon flavored dental floss - My that's what I need to get the hubby to floss. :)

  22. For six months I had to blog erratically. It goes against every rule in the book (supposedly) but if worked for me - it was also a necessity. I now blog once a week and comment once a week - because that's my schedule. I am glad you decided to stay part of the blogging community. (I also thought of stopping.) In the end, I discovered there are no rules if you do this for enjoyment. And what a lovely package! Thoughtful and fun! (And funny.)

  23. Hey you, hope you're having a great start to 2013! You know what, it's your blog, you can do what you want - that's what my husband says! I'm a little erratic with my post too, sometime a fortnight goes by, at other times, twice a week. Doesn't really matter, does it? I have popped in a couple of times to see what you were up to, in case the feed wasn't working. It's always lovely to here from/about you!

  24. Bacon-flavored dental floss! That's an awesome gift for a foodie! :) I know it's hard to keep up a blog, whether we do it for fun or business or whatever it is. Hope your life becomes calm down so that you can breathe and have some time to blog. With my kids crazy schedule it's definitely hard to find time to sit down. Stay in touch though!
